TECHNICAL TEAM MANAGER
SASRI's unique Technical Team offers researchers a smooth supply of technical expertise and related equipment for their field trials throughout the industry. In order to maintain and manage the high standards of the team we are looking to recruit a Technical Team Manager.
A combination of research trial, logistics and people management activities ensure that this job is highly varied and will present the successful incumbent with sufficient challenge and opportunity to make a significant contribution to the SASRI Programme of Work. This position will allow the successful incumbent to exercise their organising, decision making and crisis management skills extensively. The Technical Team comprises of 41 members and a fleet of 17 vehicles.
Although this position is based in Mount Edgecombe, the incumbent will be required to travel to other research sites throughout the industry as there are team members based on Komati and Pongola Research Stations.
Internal and external applicants will be reviewed simultaneously for this position and all are required to have:
* A degree or diploma in an aspect of Agriculture or a relevant Management qualification;
* Minimum of 3 years experience of research trial management from design to harvest;
* At least 2 years experience of working with and managing teams of people;
* Experience in strategic planning
* Knowledge of fleet management systems;
* Experience of budget preparation and monitoring;
* A commitment to quality and a flexibility in their approach to problem solving;
* Good knowledge of MS Excel and Word.
* Proven ability to communicate effectively with differing levels of organisational management.

research methods to study the results of work on farms, forests and research stations
