Introduction
Accountability for Agency development and delivery of Clothing, Home and Beauty packaging on budget and on time. To manage the Design finalisation, rollout of C&GM Packaging Design. Lead Agency team on Packaging Artwork portfolio from design sign-off to delivery to print and ensure the Woolworths Brand Identity remains consistent.
Minimum Requirements
Technical Skills / Experience:
3 year relevant degree / diploma
A minimum of 2-3 years Retail/FMCG packaging design.
A minimum of 2-3 years project management experience.
Agency experience preferred.
Good understanding and experience of packaging design (including printing processes).
Understanding of design trends.
Appropriate taste levels in keeping with the Woolworth’s Brand.
Computer and internet literacy, proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
Familiarity with computer design packages including CS3/4, Adobe, understanding of Chase Software will be an advantage
Good planning and organisational skills.
Good project management skills.
Able to deliver within a critical path.
Good communication, teamwork and relationship building skills.

Job Specification
Project Management
Partner with the Studio’s Creative team to manage internal and external creative resources to deliver creative solutions to the brief on time and on budget.
Ensure adherence to artwork process critical path and provide weekly status updates on packaging rollout to the Design Manager.
Manage the quality of artwork and production briefings to facilitate the delivery of exceptional finished product, minimise re-work and deliver cost savings to the business.
Ensure that packaging requirements (packaging format and commercial parameters) are briefed as part of the artwork brief.
Ensure scheduling of work through Studio Traffic Manager is according to agreed process with agreement of timing expectation and resource allocation (as agreed with the Artwork Production Manager) to the estimate approved by client.
Lead pre-production meetings for all projects and manage design requirements.
Brief artwork based on the approved design, ensuring that the artwork brief is complete, approved by all stakeholders and is accompanied by agreed print specifications.
Manage the flow of artwork ensuring that all artwork is delivered according to the critical path, is accurate according to Woolworths corporate and packaging guidelines and is approved by print/production before release to print and relevant sign off processes are adhered to.
Ensure delivery of brand blueprint documentation for major launches/sub-brands/ranges.
Ensure accuracy and recording of all project documentation including cost estimates, cost updates, contact reports, timing plans, status updates – both printed and electronic.
Input into PIR on completion of projects to continually assess the effectiveness of our work and develop recommendations for improvement.
Accountability for the artwork delivery according to the C&GM SLA & CPA.
Relationship
Build partnerships with, Buyers and Buyers Asssistants, Packaging Technology and DAM.
Act as the central point of contact for artwork across multiple projects – be the client’s continuous point of contact.
Maintain awareness of trends in packaging formats and technology and print.
Understand Woolworths position in the marketplace relative to its competitors.
Maintain awareness of marketing and industry trends.
Creative
Partner Design Manager on cross group projects to achieve optimal, considered retail Packaging design
Attend Design Forum and Creative Reviews when needed and action debriefs with relevant stakeholders.
Keep creative teams appraised of all relevant C&GM projects.
Quality Control
Accountable for driving scheduling and timing plans on all artwork projects – secure Agency and C&GM acceptance of timing plan, and ensure adherence through all stages of development and implementation.
Manage production and all pre-production meetings ensuring that all relevant parties attend.
Financial Management
Report weekly on target delivery and forecast to Design Manager.
Accurately and effectively estimate work based on the requirements of the brief.
Deliver accurate and comprehensive cost estimates to client, ensuring approval before work commences.
Schedulepply: and plan work into the studio and monitor hours spent vs. budget.
Negotiate financial issues with clients, advising clients of likely budget overruns as early as possible in the process (variations/ scope changes etc.) and provide additional cost estimates for additional work.
Manage cost control to deliver savings to the business both internally and with external creative partners.
Ensure projects are completed within budget, on time and achieve margin targets.
Ensure accurate and timely billing of work in keeping with the Studio monthly billing cycle.
Efficient use of job bag management software (Chase).
Maintain accurate expenses/disbursements records against jobs.
Ensure that all internal CE’s are approved with a valid clients’ signature and/or cost centre number on and copies are kept in a filing system.
Ensure that all external PO’s are managed timeously
