Position Summary
Purpose of the job: To continuously improve the technical performance of the operating units to the benefit of the entire value chain through the conceptualization, design, development and implementation of optimal engineering solutions .

Required outputs: Functional

- To implement Technical /Engineering solutions on baseline and equipment deviations.
- To implement new projects from Basic Engineering to completion by applying Project Management principles and the Sasol Business Development and Implementation (BD&I) Model.
- To enhance and improve plant capabilities and baselines to satisfy business needs and generate new ideas towards continuous improvement.
- To support with the establishment of an asset strategy for optimal and sustainable operations.
- To provide day to day Technical support to ensure plant safety and integrity, reliability and availability.
- To provide Mechanical Engineering support for projects.
- Detail interfacing and liaison with the other disciplines, especially OPI and Maintenance.

Qualifications and expertise required (must)
- BSc Degree (Mechanical)

Job specification
Specific experience required

- At least 5 years relevant experience within a similar position.
- Experience in the Polyolefins Business will be a benefit
- Knowledge on rotating equipment (e.g. reciprocating compressors)
- Sound knowledge of Sasol Specifications, Design & Manufacturing codes
- Experience in any of the following functions will be an advantage: Project Management /Design
- Pro-active front end loading for execution of projects
- Develop and implement procedures (safety, technical, etc.)
- Manage all relevant business interfaces
- Manage spares quality and availability
- Manage safety in project environment
- Knowledge of Sasol specifications and relevant codes and procedures
- Knowledge of welding process as per Sasol standards
