Basic Function

The QA/HSE Co-ordinator is responsible for the implementation, co-ordination and maintenance of the Company Management System. The QA/HSE Co-ordinator is the Company's Management Representative for QA/HSE and has the obligation to report any operation which is considered to be in serious breach of the Company Policy and/or procedures to the Managing Director. The QA/HSE Co-ordinator is the focal point for the day to day health and safety within the company.

1.           Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1.1         QA/HSE

              a)      Plan, establish and implement the Company Management System.
              b)      Co-ordination and maintenance of Management System documents and records.
              c)      Report on the functioning of the Management System in the Management Review Meetings.
              d)      Plan and perform internal and external Quality and Safety audits.
              e)      Identify and report on Quality and Safety related problems.
              f)       Initiate, recommend and ensure solutions to identified problems.
             g)         Evaluate subcontractors Quality Systems.
              h)      Control and update the legislative Acts and Regulations affecting Quality and Safety.
              i)        Set the example for other staff for adherence to the Management System.
              j)        Support in performing a Risk Inventory and Evaluation and set-up of related action plan.
              k)      Consultation and advice with staff representatives in HSE committee meeting.
              l)        Monitor the waste disposal system.


1.2         Other Departments

              a)      Supply Quality and Safety documents for the preparation of tenders / proposals.
              b)      Support the preparation of project specific Quality and HSE information.
              c)      Liaise with Project Managers regarding field toolboxes, safety drills, safety audits etc required for the monthly HSE statistics.

1.3         Personnel

              a)      Provide induction of employees into the Company Management System.
              b)      Provide internal training on Quality and Safety related issues.
              c)      HSE focal point for employees.
              d)      Approve work reports of assigned staff.
              e)      Evaluate performance of assigned staff.


1.4         Administration

              a)      Maintain the filing of Management System documents in accordance with the relevant procedure.
b)         Maintain and update the induction register.
c)         Registration and follow-up of Findings Reports.
d)         Registration and follow-up of accidents / incidents reported.
e)         Maintain and update the Safety Statistics.
f)          Prepare Safety Statistics information for the quarterly reporting.

1.5         Specific Additional Duties

              a)      Ensure that business style is consistent throughout the Company.
b)         Updating and issuing the induction binder for new employees.

2.           Principal Working Relationships

              a)      Work with the Department Managers for efficient co-ordination and implementation of the Company Management System.
              b)      Liaise with the QA/HSE Managers in the Business Unit to optimise the implementation of the Quality and Safety System.
              c)      Work with all Company staff to support and improve the Company Management System.

Essential:

    Management system - OHSAS 18000 and ISO 9000 / 14000 (preferably IMS Certification)
    Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety Management
    Nebosh General Certificate(s)
     At least 3 years working directly with QA/HSE systems
    Previous QA/HSE audit experience
    Working knowledge of HSE legislation in marine sector

    Offshore experience
    Knowledge of Behavioural Based Safety
    A proven track record in QA/HSE

The SURVEY ENGINEER performs all survey assignment in the office and in the field, as defined by the project manager or operations manager.
The position demands responsibility and necessity to set example. Initiative is a pre-requisite in the role of all duties, whether in the lead or supportive role.


    Execute tasks related to positioning and navigation projects according to operations instructions.
    Mobilization and installation of equipment onboard vessels and rigs.
    Interfacing and troubleshooting of positioning and survey equipment.
    Ensure all safety standards are met and followed.
    Actively participate in adherence to and improvement of the company Management System on Quality and HSE related issues.
    Reporting to Operations Manager.
    Working closely with other field staff offshore, with Project Manager and the Workshop Engineers onshore on project basis.

Due to continued expansion and growth Fugro Survey Africa Pty Ltd, based in Cape Town, we are looking to fill the position of Workshop Engineer as soon as possible.

You will have at least one solid year experience in a practical Electronic Engineering role, preferably gained in a marine or hydrographic survey environment, and exceptional drive and technical capabilities.

This is an office based role in Milnerton (no relocation remuneration offered from outside Cape Town) to support offshore survey and engineering operations. Knowledge of our equipment is not required, as training will be given.


The preferred candidate would have a well rounded knowledge in other fields of engineering and computer software / hardware, and be able to show a keen aptitude for problem solving.

We are seeking an individual with above average potential, and will provide the job specific training in a unique and exciting industry.


SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
a) Assist Head of Department and team with testing and preparation of incoming and outgoing equipment.
b) Assist with repairs and fault finding of equipment.
c) Assist with project mobilisation preparations.
d) Assist in the field from time to time with project mobilisations (mostly East and West Africa).
e) Perform preventative maintenance as required.
f) Prepare and co-ordinate orders for purchases

Administration
a) Maintain filing system for purchasing order requests made by Company controlled field offices.
b) Maintain equipment testing and calibration documentation
