Introduction
To be responsible for the development and continuous improvement of the relevant BI Analytic solutions. This role will incorporate daily business as usual activities alongside the development of complex Analytical IT solutions designed to meet defined business requirements. This is a permanent position based at the Head Office in Cape Town City Centre.
Minimum Requirements
TECHNICAL AND FUNCTIONAL
• 3 year IT qualification with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
• Deep understanding of retail business processes, KPIs and measures and how organisational data supports decision making.
• In depth knowledge of Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing and Data Management practices and principles.  Has strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and how best to organize underlying data structures to support BI.
• Good knowledge and understanding of SAS Software Administration and SAS programming (base SAS, Enterprise Guide, Enterprise Miner)
• Strong Base SAS coding and testing
• Experience in SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS 2008/2012)
• Experience in Siebel Analytics and OBIEE will be advantageous
• Willingness to cross skill to other technologies is essential
• In depth knowledge of decision analysis  and the techniques used in this field, particularly  statistical concepts
• The ability to communicate the results of analysis effectively by presenting analytical results in a format that is understandable to Business Users.  Experience with data visualisation tools will be advantageous.
• Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve problems
• Experience in data design and data modelling is essential
• Knowledge of relational databases and SQL is essential
• Sound understanding of the systems development lifecycle
• Good communication skills
• Relevant IT experience in a retail environment is preferable

Job Specification
• Install, Administer and Support  the application software on the relevant platforms
• Deliver technical design solutions according to agreed standards that address the business requirements within the agreed timeframe
• Responsible for design, development and testing of Analytical solutions
• Work with cross functional teams including Business Analysts, System Analysts, Project Managers, DBA and Business Users to deliver high quality end to end BI solutions
• Debug and help resolve any BI/Reporting related issues in the system and help Business Analysts and Business Users to understand it
• Interact with Business Analyst, System Analyst and Business Users to determine scope, business objectives and system requirements
• Integrate ideas and concepts into architectural designs for complex BI solutions
• Document the technical design specification as per the deliverables stipulated by the SDLC
• Ensure that unit testing is conducted successfully according to the functional specification document, user requirements and test pack.
• Adhere to the current SDLC policy, agreed standards and policies
• Perform routine maintenance to monitor and improve performance
• Ensure systems documentation is kept up to date
• Keep up to date with best practices and the latest developments and thinking with regards to applications within area of expertise
• Proactively investigate, identify and recommend opportunities for delivering new solutions and improving existing solutions to meet the business requirements
• Work independently to resolve issues and escalate to management and other teams as needed
