This position will require the successful applicant to interact with members of the public on the telephone or an artisan on a two-way radio. The successful candidate will work in a busy call centre environment and must be prepared to work shifts - weekdays as well as weekends.



Requirements:



    Grade 12 (Std 10).
    Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
    Six months’ relevant experience, preferably in a customer services/customer care/call centre environment, as well as experience in working a switchboard.

 Competencies:



    Ability to speak English, and IsiXhosa/Afrikaans (a recommendation). Ability to handle callers with tact and understanding.
    Interpersonal, analytical and public relations skills.
    Ability to work under pressure and give attention to detail.
    Ideally, the incumbent must be familiar with the geographical layout of the city.
    Availability for an eight-hour shift any time within the 24-hour cycle – seven days a week. Therefore the successful candidate must have reliable, ready transport to/from work or preferably his/her own transport.

Summary of duties:



    Receiving calls from the public and assisting with various types of enquiries, including general information pertaining to electricity faults and cable faults.

    Investigating, using the information system, to resolve queries that may not need site visits.
    Various auxiliary duties, including reporting damaged water pipes to the Water Division, reporting fires to the Fire and Emergency Services, and reporting accidents and emergencies to the Police and Ambulance Service.
    Will be required to operate a two-way radio in order to dispatch artisans and obtain feedback from artisans.

Main purpose of the position:

To plan, coordinate and manage the commissioning and production of quality Public Education Television and Radio programmes, from origination and conceptualization through to the delivery of the final product (TV, Radio, Digital and Outreach), ensuring compliance with SABC Education’s Vision, and SABC editorial policies and procedures.

Key Accountabilities:

•    Provide editorial leadership on Educational and Public Service Provider expectations;
•    Plan, budget and commission programmes to ensure the production of quality Public and Nation Building Education innovative programming within the mandate prescribed by the Broadcasting Act;
•    Ensure adherence to SABC editorial policies and procedures;
•    Envisage multimedia projects and new innovations;
•    Provide effective input to the Education Units strategic planning;
•    Take overall editorial responsibility and ensure that programmes are delivered as commissioned and satisfy SABC Editorial Policies and standards;
•    Manage and co-ordinate stakeholders and sponsorship relationships;

Requirements:

•    The ability to initiate and drive as well as organize, plan and control is critical to ensure efficient operations;
•    Ability to effectively work with independent producers;
