Critical Performance Areas
•    Liaising with prospective tourism employers in seeking to secure new placement opportunities both locally, nationally and internationally;
•    Monitoring the suitability of existing tourism placement opportunities to ensure compliance with legal requirements in addition to ensuring providing valuable learning opportunities;
•    Developing and maintaining a database of tourism WIL employers;
•    Facilitating the placement of tourism students with employers;
•    Ensuring that WIL employers are aware of their responsibilities to the student and of the student’s and the University’s responsibilities to them;
•    Delivering workshops / lectures to prepare students for their placements such as CV writing, interview skills, work ethics, customer care, etc.;
•    Monitoring and assessing the students’ progress whilst on placement through placement visits / tele-communication; this includes the marking of workplace assignments;
•    Keeping up-to date with current legislation, policy documents and good practice relating to WIL;

JOB TITLE: DIVISIONAL FINANCIAL MANAGER

MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION
Provide efficient and effective financial support to all the TV business units.

Support the General Manager Finance: Television in developing and implementing the financial strategy, manage the divisional budget, improve the internal control environment and streamline all financial processes through planning and effective processes by ensuring alignment with financial and operational processes.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

•    Manage, co-ordinate and monitor the annual budgets for the overall TV division (Channel, Content, Strategy, Support units and Business development),  this includes the preparation of the budget pack for group finance
•    Review and enhance the financial quality and accuracy of operational and programme business plans for decision making purposes. Tracking the spend against approved budget and cash flows in each business case, as well as actuals versus projections
•    Review month-end files to ensure that files are reviewed by the various teams and will comply with audit standards and quality
•    Drive adherence to the “authority of delegation” framework and provide reports on any deviation to management
•    Streamline (standardised) core financial processes across the TV division and ensure that the core financial processes are documented and aligned to TV operational processes
•    Prepare the monthly and quarterly TV division financial reporting pack that includes :
o    Analyse and document the monthly income and expense variances;
o    Highlights red flags
o    Document the progress made on external and internal audit reports
o    Review and update the projections loaded on the system
o    Report on stock levels and production cash flows
o    Review and consolidate the monthly profitability reports, provide reports on pertinent issues to ensure that Senior Management is aware of matters that impact the business e.g. schedule risks, programme performance
•    Internal controls and Audit reports:
o    Co-ordinate interaction with the internal audit unit and TV team and formulate the necessary responses
o    Plan and manage the external audit
•    Complete the year-end and tax packs for submission to Group finance
•    Manage and ensure deliver on year end timelines as set by Group Finance.
•    Perform ad-hoc investigations and prepare ad hoc reports on request of senior management
•    Direct, manage and develop the staff reporting directly to the divisional financial manager.
•    Develop and implement systems that allow easy-to-access to financial information which is available to all users
•    Develop financial models and perform scenario planning by populating the Hyperion models to support the MTEF submissions

REQUIREMENTS

    BCom with Articles
    CA (South African) is preferred
    5-8 Years financial experience
    Proven track record in financial reporting and presentation
    Ability to communicate and work with team members
    Knowledge of Public Financial Management Act is preferred
    Knowledge of Government Regulations is preferred
