Minimum requirements:

•    Masters or Doctorate degree in Economics or relevant qualication
•    At least 5 years teaching, research and/or industrial experience in economics at a tertiary level will be required.
•    Experience in research and mentoring of postgraduate students will be a strong recommendation.
•    Ecellent written and oral communication, presentation and computer skills as well as the ability to work with students, conduct workshops, seminars, etc. are required.
•    Quantitivate skills (e.g. statistics for economists or mathematics for economists).
•    Knowledge of econometric and statistical packages e.g. E-VIEWS, STATA or SPSS.
•    Registration with a professional body a recommendation.

Core Functions

•    Presenting lectures and assessing students in economics subjects
•    Responsible for administrative tasks related to teaching and learning.
•    Actively participate in research and community service projects
•    Industry liason and involvement in the development of a new curriculum.
•    Supervision of postgraduate students
•    Present evening classes and/or Saturday classes as part of the normal workload if the need arises.

The SURVEY ENGINEER performs all survey assignment in the office and in the field, as defined by the project manager or operations manager.
The position demands responsibility and necessity to set example. Initiative is a pre-requisite in the role of all duties, whether in the lead or supportive role.


    Execute tasks related to positioning and navigation projects according to operations instructions.
    Mobilization and installation of equipment onboard vessels and rigs.
    Interfacing and troubleshooting of positioning and survey equipment.
    Ensure all safety standards are met and followed.
    Actively participate in adherence to and improvement of the company Management System on Quality and HSE related issues.
    Reporting to Operations Manager.
    Working closely with other field staff offshore, with Project Manager and the Workshop Engineers onshore on project basis.

Relevant B.Sc. or National Diploma/BTech in Electronic / Mechatronic Engineering (not neg!)
    NB: Min. 1 year practical experience in electronic engineering (for trainee level)
    NB: Min. 3-5 years practical electronic engineering experience plus at least 1 year offshore
    experience, preferably in relevant industry (for skilled level)
English language
Be prepared to travel locally (within Africa) and internationally
Must be able to swim (offshore survival course will be done)
Must be medically fit for offshore duty (please declare any illnesses which may prevent offshore work)
Knowledge of acoustic equipment and software is preferable
Show creativity, motivation, adaptability and innovation ("think outside the box")
Be flexible, stress resistant, have an accurate work practice and a hands-on mentality
Be a team player (effectively work in close-knit environments with many cultural groups and nationalities)
Must have good communication skills
Good computer skills
Good understanding of (HSE) safety policies and procedures
Must be empowered and confident to halt unsafe work
South African national with valid SA Passport
Residing in Cape Town (or willing to relocate at own cost).
Valid driver's license with record in good standing
No criminal record (this must be disclosed as police clearances are done for visas when travelling offshore)
