FOUNDING HEAD OF TRAINING ACADEMY

The National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS) is a leading public health laboratory service with
laboratories across South Africa. Its activities comprise diagnostic laboratory services, research, teaching and training, and production of sera for anti-snake venom, reagents and media. At the core of the NHLS is next generation pathology excellence that supports the mandate of the Department of Health.

An exciting opportunity exists to join the NHLS Senior
Management Team as Founding Head of Training Academy and will be responsible to:
  • Develop, execute and management of policies and regulations
  • Responsible for the development and management of the training budget maintenance of costs within budget.
  • Develop and implement business model and long-term sustainability plan for the Learning Academy.
  • Manage and guide the Regional Training Managers in their roles to ensure consistency training services within the NHLS
  • Provides strategic direction in the designing and development of training materials in line with skills development legislation.
  • Oversee the development, implementation and monitoring of structured technical training programs for all students, interns and medical technologists curriculum within the NHLS according to HPCSA and HWSETAstandards. 
  • Oversee the organization and training activities complies with accreditation standards and registration requirements of the Professional Boards including the HWSETA within the technical environment as required by legislation.
  • Provide strategic direction in the management and maintenance of training laboratories within the NHLS.
  • Provide strategic guidance in the accreditation of the NHLS as a training provider and the sustainability of this status.
  • Oversee the establishment and sustainability of the relevant learning academy related committees within the NHLS to ensure that training is provided in line with relevant legislation.
  • Provide strategic direction in the development, implementation and monitoring of workplace learning programmes (learner ships, internships and graduate programmes).
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of the strategy relating to evaluation, appointment and monitoring of service providers in line with organizational needs and skills development Act.
  • Be responsible for EXCO and the HWSETA in order to ensure compliance with requirements of legislation and stakeholders.
  • Ensure the support and expansion of African Centre for Integrative Laboratory Training (ACILT) programs for the benefit of laboratory systems strengthening throughout South African and the African continent.

Overview     The Electrician has a responsibility for the maintenance and engineering strategies that will improve factory efficiencies
Purpose    

To maintain plant and machinery to world class standards while providing support to the Site Engineer in project and development work
Key Responsibilities    

-Compilation and updating of equipment registers (safety gear).
-To ensure that machinery used in the unit is maintained set correctly and free of safety hazards.
-Input and print job cards on the planned maintenance system.
-Provide technical support to machine operators.
-Conduct routine maintenance and maintenance inspections.
-Practice preventative maintenance.
-Maximize performance on all equipment.
-Complete job cards, log books and inspection reports.
-Compile electrical drawings/schedules for plant.

Required Experience
   
-2-5 years electrical experience in a manufacturing environment.
Technical/Functional Skills    
-Exposure to PLC’s.
-Computer literacy and exposure to Maintenance Systems.
-Interpersonal relationship skills.
-Team player within multi-functional team.
-Call out and standby responsibilities, including overtime work as required.
-Situational problem solving abilities.
-Pro-active and responsive to situations.
-Troubleshooting ability.
-Sense of urgency.
-Able to read electrical drawings.
-Instrumentation experience required.
-Willing to work on a shift basis.

Minimum Qualifications    

-Qualified, trade tested artisan.
Preferred Industry Experience    
-Electrical experience in manufacturing

Overview     The cost analyst reports into the Management Accountant and is responsible for all costs and reconciliations.
Purpose     Responsible for the costing department and assisting the Management Accountant.
Key Responsibilities    

? Manage stock reconciliations
? Assist and maintain continuous stock control and month end stock procedures
? Assist with Administrative functions on Grain procurement
? Assist with administrative functions in the Costing Department
? Assist and maintain mass balance systems for all cost centers
? Perform and maintain statistical trend analyses on critical costs
? Compile and extract all necessary reports from Oracle to assist relevant managers in making decisions
? Assist in identifying and eliminating of critical variances in production. Conduct variance analyses
? Compile daily statistics on Yield /Labour variances
? Compile and maintain Daily Production Indicators
