JOB TITLE:  TECHNICIAN x 2
REPORT LINE: MANAGER TECHNOLOGY: POST PRODUCTION
SCALE CODE: 405

MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION
Technical support, installations, design, repair and maintenance of technical equipment and systems, in order to ensure facilities and equipment are in perfect operational order 24 hours a day for broadcast.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
    Plan, control and the efficient maintenance of all technical equipment and facilities, in order to provide optimal correct functionality, whilst ensuring adherence to manufacturing specifications
    Efficient and effective repair of faulty equipment, ensuring smallest possible turnaround time and minimal disruption for broadcast
    Continual upgrading of facilities and equipment at Post Production Facilities, in order to ensure operational delivery on client needs and requirements
    Prompt response to fault call-outs, assessment of the situation and alternatives (bypass of equipment etc.), in order to provide a solution that will ensure 24 hour broadcast ability
    Continual monitoring and evaluation of Post Production facilities, in order to assess if facilities are correctly equipped to provide a professional broadcast environment
    Maintain close working relationships with internal and external clients, in order to ensure optimal delivery on client needs and requirements
    Informal guidance and support to clients, in order to familiarise clients with the capabilities and utilisation of equipment
    The workflow design and installation of all technical equipment in the facilities, ensuring adherence to technical specifications and optimal delivery on client’s needs and requirements, within specified budget
    Liaise with internal and external service providers and vendors, in order to ensure optimal delivery on SABC needs and requirements
    Continually monitor and assess the external environment, new equipment, technologies and technology trends, in order to enhance the efficiencies and effectiveness of technology operations
    Ensure adherence to safety and health regulations
    Sound administration, ensuring accurate registering of faults, time, costs and solutions
    Ensuring the Asset management and control of technical equipment in the facilities
    Update technical documentation and plans for future reference
    On-the-job, informal training of team members, in order to ensure a competent staff compliment and exchange and sharing of knowledge and expertise.
    Doing shifts/after-hours technical support and assistance to the facilities


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
    National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Light Current)
    1-Year experience in technical maintenance in Post Production related equipment e.g. NLE(AVID & FCP), AFM(ProTools), VT-TRF & GRAPHICS
    A+ Computer Qualification (Advantageous)
    N+ Computer Qualification/Network Essentials (Advantageous)

Outreach Manager Job at SABC in Johannesburg



JOB TITLE: OUTREACH MANAGER

[Salary scale code 300 - Position ID 60001030]

Main purpose of the position:

To effectively manage the Outreach Unit and its activities, maintain stakeholder relationships and manage strategic partnerships at provincial to local levels.  The incumbent must have the ability to develop strategic plans, business plans and budgets for outreach activities.  The Manager Outreach must have the necessary organisational and people skills to assist with supporting and enabling of service providers and Field staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Develop, monitor and evaluate strategic plans and budgets for the unit
•    Regular monitoring of the Unit’s performance against strategy, implementation plans and budgets
•    Project manage  Outreach projects
•    Appoint service providers to implement projects
•    Monitor service providers and manage project risks
•    Monitor and evaluate proposals and budgets for Outreach activities
•    Contribute towards the development and delivery of integrated ancillary services (print, web, mobile Outreach, etc.)
•    Monitor and ensure effective utilisation of operational and project budgets and resources
•    Financial accountability to Managers and clients (sponsors, funders, etc.)
•    Regular report to clients and management
•    Assist Business Development in the identifying and sourcing of funding and sponsorships
•    Ensure delivery of all content onto multiple platforms
•    Stay abreast with new Media trends
•    Ensure effective but simple use of technology by end user
•    Ensure compliance to SABC policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
•     Bachelors degree or relevant tertiary qualification
•    2 – 3 years relevant and managerial as well as project management experience
•     Experience in the planning and implementation of interactive activities and social action campaigns
•     Experience in community related projects
•     Ability to interact and manage different stakeholders
•    Understanding of multi media
