Introduction
The abovementioned vacancy exists at our Depot in Port Elizabeth. The successful incumbent will be responsible for managing all operational and administrative responsibilities associated with the Depot.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12.
Degree or Diploma in Business Management.
Reefer technical qualification.
A minimum of Five (5) year's management experience.
A minimum of Two (2) years container depot environment experience.
A minimum of Three (3) years reefer technical experience.
Sound knowledge of Container Depot management and the technical management of reefer containers.
Ability to communicate at all levels.
Sound knowledge of Depot computer systems and software packages.
Working knowledge of handling equipment and maintenance.
Good analytical skills.
Leadership and organizational skills.
Financial and administrative skills.
Clear ITC and criminal checks.

Customer Care

Staff Management
Monitor staff levels for the department and ensure that reporting levels are adequate to meet all operational requirements. This must include the planning of staff leave, both annual as well as casual.
Motivate staff by example, acknowledgment, encouragement and praise for good work.
Monitor staff discipline against company policies and procedures and takes corrective action when necessary and advises the Regional Manager.
Conduct regular on the job training of staff, emphasizing customer care. Identify areas of weakness and assist the Regional Manager in planning formal training sessions that must be conducted at least once every quarter.
Conduct performance appraisals of departmental staff on a quarterly basis, by measuring performance against agreed goals and objectives. Submit results and recommendations to the Regional Manager.
Ensure compliance with the company policies and procedures as set out by the company.
Strategic planning and implementation
Participate in strategic planning meetings and assist the Regional / National Managers with the formulation of strategic plans.
Based on the strategic plans, assists Regional / National Managers with the formulation of action plans to achieve the strategic objective set.
Implement the strategic / action plan that is applicable to the branch through a process of ongoing discussions with relevant parties and monitoring of progress, ensuring deadlines set are met.
Provide fortnightly reports to the Regional Manager on progress.
Finance and Administration
Compile volume statistics of containers handled and distributes to Regional Managers.
Prepare the annual income and expenditure budget for the branch within the perimeters and deadlines set.
Ensure that customer invoice queries received via the credit control department or from the customer directly are resolved within 48 hours of receipt.
Manage overcharges in accordance with the laid down procedures.
Facilitate the month end process on the front-end systems in line with the set deadlines.
Manage all systems related problems identified by staff.
Health Safety and Environment
Acts as SHE representative.
Identify and take corrective action to address non-compliance and ensure execution.
Ensure staff is briefed and adhere to ongoing Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
Arrange for required training of all staff.
