The Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment, Department: Engineering Foundation has a one year temporary position for Junior Lecturer at the Pretoria Campus (applicants should be available any time between 08h00 – 17h00 daily from Monday to Friday, depending on the timetable).

Critical Performance Areas

•    Presenting lecturers for Engineering students (Extended)  doing Mechanics I
•    Taking responsibility for administrative tasks related to teaching and learning, including the development of a new curriculum
•    Evidence of ability to carry out research and publish academic papers
•    Participating in community service projects and research projects of the faculty/ department
•    Liaising with other sections and industry.

1.    Minimum Requirements
•    BTech /B Eng/ BSc Honours in the following Engineering Field: Civil, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical and Mechatronics.

2.    Experience and Skills
•    1-3 Years relevant teaching/tutoring experience is needed.

Job Title: Communication Officer

Salary R 275 741 per annum (TCoE) – Level 8

CapeNature is looking for an energetic, professional and competent Communication Officer to form part of the Communication Services unit and reports to the Senior Communications Manager.  The Communications Officer is responsible for the implementation of key internal and external corporate communication and public relations initiatives, including the production and delivery of all relevant communication collateral, awareness campaigns and events.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    To assist in the development and implementation of the organisation’s  internal and external communications strategy
    To assist with copy-writing, editing and the production of communication products or publications (booklets, videos, flyers, adverts etc.)
    To assist in the compilation of the organisation’s Annual Report
    Develop environmental awareness/educational tools and campaigns
    Develop and manage project/campaign plans and integration with regional and programmatic activation
    Develop and source environmental resources for regional and corporate use
    Evaluation of effective use of environmental resources and communication collateral
    Work closely with internal and external design and production companies (from brief to final product)
    Plan and execute internal and external events, exhibitions and functions
    Assist with press releases, newsletter inserts, compile news-clippings, general enquiries etc.
    Responsible translations, proofreading, general and ad hoc functions
    Liaise with radio stations, partners and stakeholders for joint awareness campaigns or projects
    Assist with media liaison and Public Relations activities
    Provide a communication service to the organisation in regards to requests for assistance from regions and programmes



Requirements:

    A  Diploma in Communications, Journalism or Public Relations
    Three years practical experience in communications or public relations
    Sound understanding , knowledge of public relations and communication principles
    Intermediate or advanced computer literacy in Word; PowerPoint presentations & design; Excel, MS Publisher
    Language proficiency in at least one other official language (preferably Afrikaans and English)
    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    Excellent planning, organisational skills and presentation skills
    Attention to detail, fact-finding/research ability
    Excellent writing skills (English and Afrikaans)
    A valid 08 driver’s license and willingness to travel within the Western Cape
    An understanding of the nature and work hours required within this profession
    Any design experience would be advantageous

JOB TITLE:EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR:  CONSERVATION SUPPORT

5 Year contract position, renewable, Head office, Cape Town

Salary R   771 306 per annum (TCoE) – Level 13

Key Responsibilities:

    Fulfil the roles, functions and responsibilities required of CapeNature’s conservation management decision support programmes and strategies.
    Assume overall accountability for the performance and day-to-day functioning of all units of the directorate and for the management and the driving of partnership initiatives.
    Undertake overall responsibility for the building of appropriate skills and capabilities related to conservation management.
    Advise on and monitor the maximizing of conservation and social outcomes within available budgets.
    Oversee the development of applicable biodiversity and conservation policy and systems.
    Ensure regular communication and liaison with conservation institutions, partners and stakeholders in order to ensure, maintain and improve the technical decision support base of conservation management.
    Position CapeNature to fulfil a leadership role in participating and providing specialist input into corporate, local, regional and national biodiversity programmes, projects, policies and initiatives.
    Ensure effective implementation of collaborative projects with Department of Environmental Affairs and Development planning.
    Strategic Financial and Human Resource Management of the Directorate.

Key Requirements:

    An MSc or equivalent higher qualification in the Natural Sciences,
    8 years’ experience in the conservation sector or an applicable management environment.
    Additional qualification in project management, human resources management, financial management and / or any other management qualification would be an advantage.
    In-depth knowledge of the functioning of ecological process and conservation management.
    Knowledge and experience of applicable environmental legal matters and the implementation thereof.
    Potential to advise on and monitor the maximizing of conservation and social outcomes.
    Thorough working knowledge of the MS office
    Experience in, and knowledge of, information management.
    A valid EB (08) driver’s license and willingness to regularly travel extensively throughout the Western Cape Province and elsewhere as required.

    A mature, stable person with strong leadership, conceptual and formulation skills and strategic vision, and a demonstrated ability to lead a team and to be part of the CapeNature executive management team.
