Amazon Development Centre South Africa is looking for people passionate about solving problems and delighting customers. Amazon Web Services provides Amazon's developer customers with access to in-the-cloud infrastructure services based on Amazon's own back-end technology platform, which developers can use to enable virtually any type of business. The Cape Town based Development Center plays a key role in building the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2).

You'll work with customers to understand how they're using our services, and provide feedback to the development teams, as well as working directly with engineers on those teams to ensure that customer issues are resolved as expediently as possible. You'll represent Amazon and EC2 when customers want help using our services, and you'll drive customer communication during EC2 critical events.

Successful candidates must:

    have demonstrated proficiency in one or more of these areas:
    Systems administration (Linux and/or Windows)
    Networking (DNS, IPsec, BGP, VPN, Load Balancing)
    Programming / scripting (Java, Perl, Ruby, C#, and/or PHP)
    strong data analytics skills highly desirable
    have excellent oral and written communication skills
    have a strong customer focus
    have the ability to juggle many tasks and projects in a fast-moving environment
    be a self-starter who is excited about technology.

Successful candidates should also ideally have:

    a degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
    experience working directly with customers
