Job Title: MS System Engineer

    Position Purpose

    This position is for a System Engineer that will work with a team of more junior people and will be responsible for 2nd and 3rd level support. The responsibility also includes relationship management with the business and service management of the complete solution supporting the call centre environment. Manage the day-to-day operational functions and facilities within MMI Holdings environment


    Location

    The above-mentioned position is currently available in our Infrastructure & Tech Services division based at our office in Centurion.


    Experience & Qualifications

    • Degree/Diploma in IT/IS/Computer Science ( SQL Certification needed)
    • 3-5 years relevant years’ experience in SQL Database Administration Role
    • Extensive experience on the following platforms SQL 2005,2008 and 2012
    • Must have proven SQL Availability experience(Clustering/Mirroring/Replication)
    • Experience in working with Database Architectures in Large SQL Environments
    • Extensive Experience with SSIS
    • Good understanding of the Microsoft Server Platform Stack
    • Good understanding of Storage and Network Layers pertinent to the overall SQL Architecture


    The Incumbent will be responsible for:

    • Provide tier 2/3 problem solving.
    • Day to Day management of the SQL Server environment
    • Design and deliver systems performance and capacity management and reporting.
    • Define product and/or platform architecture and roadmap.
    • Compile, maintain and distribute relevant documentation.
    • Identify risks to the company and direct/escalate accordingly.
    • Ensures optimum utilisation and configuration of installed infrastructure.
    • Implement proper continuity measures to ensure timely recovery of systems according to business guidelines.
    • License management.
    • Proactively manage the environment to honour required service levels.
    • Provide an efficient and informative mentoring / coaching function.
    • Research and Development of SQL Enablement technologies and the implementation of these solution into the business architecture
    • Document and Review new and existing SQL Processes
    • Security maintenance of databases: ensure databases aren’t vulnerable to any security risks / breaches
    • Backup monitoring: ensure backups run on regular basis & ensure integrity of backups
