Fugro Survey Africa (Pty) Ltd is part of the Fugro Group and employs staff in several countries. Fugro Survey is a dynamic company, specialised in hydrographic and marine surveys. Projects are carried out for clients in the oil and gas industry, construction and dredging companies. Main services provided are positioning of rigs and vessels, and collection and interpretation of offshore survey data using acoustic equipment. Fugro Survey operate the dedicated survey vessel Geo Endeavour. Operations are executed mainly in frontier areas in Africa under challenging conditions. Fugro Survey is part of a business unit which includes offices in Leidschendam, Paris, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Congo, Angola and South Africa.

The experience and relevant industry background of the candidate will determine whether this role will be offered as a Project Co-ordinator or Project Manager.

The Project Co-ordinator supports the Project Managers with survey-related activities, in particular with respect to survey procedures and survey proposals.

    To support Project Managers with survey-related activities such as writing of survey procedures, review of survey specification, review of processing & reporting requirements.
    To support Project Managers with day-to-day activities on the project, carrying out tasks with limited supervision.
    Actively contribute to meet joint efforts or problem solving.
    Organise own tasks effectively by formulating goals and planning activities.
    Adhere to Company QA/HSE standards at all times, and demonstrate thorough awareness of and compliance with the QA/HSE system and its requirements.
    To undertake any other duties as appropriate within their competence, as required by Operations Manager from time to time.
    Serve as stand in for Project Managers from time to time
    Assist with project site visits when required



    Actively participate in adherence to and improvement of the company Management System on Quality and HSE related issues.
    If applicable provide project safety plan.
    Conduct project briefing including project specific HSE subjects.
    Identify use of additional PPE.
    Instruct field staff on emergency procedures.
    Instruct field staff on accident / incident reporting. Ensure appropriate investigation of reported incidents.
    When applicable, be available for temporary substitution of other positions in the company.
    Implementation of Company Policy.


position requirements

    B.Sc. level or Diploma equivalent in surveying or engineering
    Certificate or diploma in project management to supplement the above qualification is preferred
    Min. 3 years experience in survey (marine/hydrographic/offshore) industry.
    Basic accounting principles, with good numeracy
    Excellent planning skills and attention to detail.
    Conversant with survey equipment / software in use.
    English language.
    Residing in Cape Town, or willing to relocate at own cost
    Valid passport.
    Willing to travel within Africa when required (two or three times a year on average)
    South African citizen (or valid work permit)
