Job Title: Area Manager

Johannesburg


    Position Purpose

    The successful applicant will be required to develop, motivate, guide and lead a team of financial advisers to achieve business objectives, agreed performance targets as well as to ensure that advice provided is in accordance with FAIS requirements.

    Experience & Qualifications

    Matric/ Grade 12 and a minimum of 120 NQF credits on level 5
    CFP would be an added advantage
    RE Exam/Key individual
    Five (5) years’ experience in managing people
    Five (5) years’ experience in sales management
    Experience in the Financial Advisory and/or Investment/Insurance Broking Industry

    The Incumbent will be responsible for:

    Setting performance targets for the team in conjunction with key stakeholders.
    Achieving agreed-upon performance targets for the team and individual financial advisers.
    Coaching and mentoring all advisers in the area to ensure performance targets are met.
    Establishing, monitoring and managing the performance and development of all employees in the “Area” to facilitate the development of skill and competency levels for competitive differentiation in the market, and to ensure that top performance is recognised and understood in terms of best practice.
    Clarifying structures and roles, ensuring that clear KRA’s, goals and performance targets are set for staff.
    Developing business opportunities and leads in the market, devising innovative plans on how best to convert these opportunities into actual sales. This includes advising the sales team on how best to leverage and optimise the existing market base, as well as exploring opportunities to expand the market base.
    Ensuring that headcount targets are met and through the recruitment of appropriately qualified consultants and that performance and activity management processes are used to ensure that acceptable standards of production and business quality are maintained.
    Conducting effective, on site supervision of the financial advisers.
    Identifying strengths and weaknesses in the sales tactics, ensuring that suitable tactics are implemented to maximise on value adding strengths and to address concerns.
    Conducting regular and effective individual review meetings with each financial adviser within the team.
    Ensuring that the financial advisers are trained to the expected standard and that they comply with the FAIS fit and proper requirement.
    Leading weekly meetings with the team and individual financial advisers.
    Following up on and resolving all problems and queries generated by the financial advisers.
    Checking of all applications received for accuracy, affordability, appropriateness and compliance.
    Implementing and monitoring the management operating system.
    Monitoring and managing the day to day operating costs and expenditure budgets for the team to ensure that all costs are accounted for and contained.
    Compiling and submitting regular summary management reports for the regional manager on all KPI's.
    Managing the office support function and ensure processing efficiencies and service quality standards are achieved.
    Ensuring compliance with rules, regulations and legislation governing business operations in South Africa.

    Competencies Required

    Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and the Internet
    Strong sales ability in the Financial Services Industry
    Strong financial acumen to manage the profitability of an "Area"
    Sense of integrity and honesty
    Persuading and influencing
    Adapting and responding to change
    Strong aspiration for achieving personal work goals and objectives
    Strong business acumen and organizational skills
