Overview    

To uphold the best quality and highest possible extractions and Milling OEEs
Purpose     Replacement
The main objective is to manage your area of responsibility in terms of extractions, quality, maintenance, people and information.
Key Responsibilities    

The main objective is to manage your area of responsibility in terms of extractions, quality, maintenance, people and information.
Manage in the successful implementation of the milling schedule.
Responsible for the housekeeping and hygiene standards as laid down and work towards world class standards
Report all breakdowns.
Responsible for all safety standards on the mill
Responsible for the milling maintenance (Plantsifter, filters and purifiers degerminator scales)
Responsible for the quality of all products to assure that all products are within the quality specifications and adjust quality as soon as possible to bring the products within quality specification.
Assure that extraction ratios as laid down are followed and if the need is there to change to meet product specification or product demand. These changes needs to be discussed with the Unit manager when corrective action has been taken
To assure the vitamins are ordered for the supplier timeously and assure maximum stock levels for 10 milling days
Assure that the Chlorinators are working at all times
Charring all disciplinary hearings and handle all OE matters for your department you are responsible for
Implement the production plan; discuss with supervisor and plan production, change overs and maintenance accordingly
Adjust the milling schedule in consultation with the supply chain co-ordinator when targets could not be reached or the plan has to be altered due to whatever reason.
Ensure that work areas are kept clean and tidy and that all materials and equipment are stored according to world best practice
Responsible for the general condition of the mills
Constantly check the product quality; rectify
deviations relating to maintenance, raw material,
preparation, recipes, ingredients and processes.
Constantly check the condition of machines,
conveyors and other equipment and report defects.
Assist in investigations concerning safety, poor
quality, and poor performance
Be actively involvement in the 20 Keys program
and Invocom
Continuously improving work methods to make-
work easier.
Minimise change over downtime and report
prolonged changeovers.
Chairing disciplinary hearings and disciplining
subordinates when necessary

Required Experience    

Grade 12 or equivalent
Qualified wheat miller
City and guild certificate in wheat milling will be to the applicant advantage or T.M.A Diploma
Computer literacy (ICDL preferred)
Require sound knowledge of the South African Labour laws, factory- and machinery act and the OSH- and employment equity act.
Excellent knowledge of throughput calculations and line balancing
Good understanding of all relevant processes
and equipment
Understanding of synchronised manufacturing

Technical/Functional Skills    

To be able to run the forty tens an hour wheat mill
Minimum Qualifications     Grade 12 or equivalent
Qualified wheat miller
City and guild certificate in wheat milling will be to the applicant advantage or T.M.A Diploma
Computer literacy (ICDL preferred)
Require sound knowledge of the South African Labour laws, factory- and machinery act and the OSH- and employment equity act.
Excellent knowledge of throughput calculations and line balancing
Good understanding of all relevant processes and equipment
Understanding of synchronised manufacturing
