Specialist: Research and Development
Applications are invited for the position of Specialist: Research and Development, based in Bruma. The successful applicant will be reporting to the Senior Engineer: Research. , Major activities:
• Undertake research and development projects that will advance the corporate objectives of ATNS
• Prepare plans, processes, procedures and safety cases for introducing new technologies into the operational environment
• Make presentations to ATNS and third parties on research and development project outcomes
• Research ATM/CNS technology globally
• Attend seminars, conferences, workshops, etc on related matters
• Identify associated risks with technology research projects and establish mitigation options
• Participate in appropriate ICAO regional, international and planning meetings and SADC forums that will advance ATNS's position
• Provide specialist consultancy services to ATNS and third parties
• Identify personal training and development needs and requirements
• Coach and mentor staff
• Support and ensure compliance with the ATNS Quality Management System
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulation, policies and procedures.
Minimum qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electronics or Computer Engineering) granting admission to the Engineering Council of SA to register as a Professional Engineer.
Minimum experience:
• Minimum of 5 years' engineering experience in a high-technology electronic environment
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of planning, specifying, acquiring and implementing radio communication systems and/or voice communications systems and/or data communications systems and/or voice and data switching systems and/or radio navigation systems and/or primary and secondary surveillance radar sensors and/or radar and flight data processing and display systems.
