Introduction:
A vacancy exists for a Public Relations Officer , based at Life Empangeni Garden Clinic, reporting to Mrs J van Zyl, Hospital Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving initiatives aimed at upholding a positive image of the hospital, while maintaining an environment that promotes superior customer satisfaction.
Critical Outputs:
Compiling and implementing the annual marketing strategy for the hospital aligned to achieving business objectives.
• Develop annual internal and external communication strategy including media exposure.
• Ensure consistency between the corporate, regional and hospital strategies.
• Implementation of public awareness initiatives including health awareness days.
• Manage the marketing and communication strategy within the allocated budget.
• Ensure consistent implementation of the brand.
• Build awareness of the Life Healthcare brand with the local community.
• Develop and sustain good relationships with general practitioners, specialists and other target publics in the value chain.
Planning and co-ordination of the annual Doctor CME program.
Management and co-ordination of hospital outsourced-services, including but not limited to catering, cleaning and laundry.
Organisation and co-ordination of hospital staff functions.
• Commission market research when necessary.
• Enhancing the quality of services to patients, doctors, staff, funders and other clients as it pertains to the marketing and communication function.
• Ensuring hospital details on the website and any other public domain is up to date.
• Ensure involvement in doctor recruitment campaigns as outlined by the Hospital Manager
• Assist in patient complaint investigations. Draft appropriate responses, or manage interaction with patients / family / Doctors.
Requirements:
• A tertiary marketing / communication / public relations qualification is preferred. In the absence of a tertiary qualification in these fields – Grade 12 with a proven track record of and at least three years working experience in a hospital environment relevant to this function.
• Healthcare experience is advantageous.
• A proven track record of writing ability will be advantageous.
• Very energetic and well organised.
• Must be able to work under pressure in a constantly changing environment.
• Attention to detail and aesthetic judgement.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Conflict management.
• Self motivated.
• Influencing and negotiation skills.
• Computer literacy is essential.
