The Department requires the services of a motivated, self-starting team player with good communication and relevant skills in EMIS data management.
REQUIREMENTS:
●A Bachelor’s degree in Statistics accompanied by five (5) years experience in working with large databases
●Good working knowledge of Database structures (MS SQL Server) and at least one (1) statistical package (e.g. SAS, SPSS, STATA or other) as well as MS Access are further requirements for this position
●Knowledge of Computer programming and project management as well as the Education system in the country will serve as an advantage
●A valid driver’s licence is essential.
DUTIES:
●Develop and maintain a database management system
●Develop and maintain the Learner Unit Record Information and Tracking System (LURITS) ●Maintain historic EMIS databases
●Collaborate with the State Information Technology Agency (SITA)
●Produce output reports on themes sustained by the data
●Assist in producing statistical relevant reports
●Support the maintenance of the Register of South African Schools
●Provide relevant statistical services where necessary
●Ensure that quality standards are maintained on the database
●Ensure continual improvement of the database to international norms
●Ensure security for all EMIS data sets
●Assist with developing value added products derived from data in the database
●Liaise and collaborate with other Government departments, such as Statistics South Africa, as well as researchers
