Back-End Programmer

The role

Programmer is responsible for writing and coding individual programs in Cobol from specific requirements.

Please note there are two positions available.
The requirements

    National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or National Certificate (Vocational)
    A relevant Cobol qualification (i.e. 3 month course) with 1 year’s Cobol development experience
    A SQL or equivalent (Oracle / DB2) would be advantageous
    Valued requirements include knowledge of and / or experience in:
        Unix
        Microfocus Cobol compiler
        .NetXpress
    Interpersonal skills
    Communication skills (verbal and written) in English
    Diagnostic and problem-solving skills
    The ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
    Ability to perform under pressure
    Ability to work effectively with little or no supervision
    Team player
    The incumbent will be required to work overtime, weekends and be available on standby when required and be contactable.
    Own reliable transport and valid driver’s license would be preferred
    Clear credit and criminal record
