SENIOR TECHNICIAN: (INLAND) – WATER SUPPLY SERVICES

TASK GRADE 14: R 292 081.08 – R379 130.52

Requirements:

S4 Chemical Engineering OR S4 Civil Engineering

Valid code EB/B driver’s license

Class V classifications as Operator

Five (5) years on a Water Treatment Plant of equal or greater capacity
Key Performance Areas:

Plans daily, monthly and annual; work requirements against available resources by working out
project priority and availability of funds

Controls daily, weekly and monthly reports by recording and interpretation of facts and figures to
comply with staff and council policies and asses the plant performance

Controls physical process of purification operations by communicating with maintenance, quality
control and treatment operations staff on changes and breakdowns to ensure continuation in the
production of purified water

Co-ordinates maintenance and preventative maintenance by interaction with technician
maintenance on when to conduct maintenance and predictive maintenance to avoid lost time due
to breakdowns

Establishing parameters for effective production efficiencies by evaluation of electrical and
chemical consumptions to evaluate plant performance and optimize production costs

Co-ordinates safety procedures at King Williams Town Water Treatment Works by inspecting if
staff adheres to laws and regulation set out for plant personnel to ensure safety management
according to O.H.S.A
