Salary R261 144 – R298 788 per annum
(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)
In compliance with the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s Employment Equity Plan, preference will be given to suitably qualified African (male) and Coloured (female) applicants.
Requirements:
A B. Degree/Diploma in Business Administration/Public Administration or equivalent.
Sufficient relevant experience, including supervisory experience (essential).
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
A thorough knowledge of administrative and budget processes.
A valid Code 08 driver’s licence.
Competencies:
Good verbal and written communication skills in English and one other official local language.
Proven proficiency on information management systems.
Proven competency in the administration of key institutional strategies/programmes and projects.
Good interpersonal and report-writing skills.
Good time management and office management skills.
The ability to work independently, under pressure and outside normal working hours.
As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
Summary of duties:
Checking, authorising or obtaining the necessary authorisation for all goods and services orders.
Controlling and preparing the draft operating budget for the Office of the Municipal Manager. This includes attending to the adjustment budget inputs (process) and the ability to assess escalation charges and adjust the budget accordingly.
Drafting correspondence and reports to Council meetings, Mayoral Committee meetings and other committees.
Perusing minutes of Council meetings, Mayoral Committee meetings and other committees and collating information and/or documentation from various internal and external stakeholders in order to prepare relevant reports.
Controlling the submission of reports to relevant Council structures and committees and monitoring the implementation of resolutions.
Maintaining an effective document management system for the Office of the Municipal Manager.
Maintaining an administrative support strategy to ensure effective operations within the Office of the Municipal Manager.
Co-ordinating other strategic programmes in the Office of the Municipal Manager.
Planning, controlling, directing and co-ordinating the administration of all key relevant municipal strategies, programmes and projects.
Receiving items from the Bid Adjudication Committee (BAC) and deviation applications, and ensuring that the items comply with all relevant processes and regulations.
Preparing the Municipal Manager’s resolutions in relation to all BAC items and deviation applications.
Perusing incoming correspondence from internal and external stakeholders and drafting responses for the Municipal Manager’s consideration.

Proof of academic qualifications:
