Job Title: Research officer

reconvening after the ESS, in August, at a host university in cooperation with the Director of Research–this will include searching for financial support
for the meeting;

Desired outcomes:

o Supporting and providing all necessary information to the research teams throughout the development of the projects;
o Collecting information from the research findings
o Providing reliable and frequent contact to the research teams;
o Communicating with team on a regular basis;
o Supporting the research teams in publishing final manuscripts
o Assisting BMi in the publication process if necessary


Essential

   Demonstrable knowledge of, and interest in, a wide range of privacy law and data protection issues.
    Extensive experience in the human rights or development sectors.
    Understanding of issues related to the intersection of technology and human rights
    Exceptional communications and presentation skills, both written and oral.
    Strong multitasking abilities and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
    Enthusiasm for development work and foreign travel, and willingness to travel frequently, including to medium-risk/high-risk environments on occasion.
    Experience of working with and in small teams.
    Cultural sensitivity and ability to get on with a wide range of people.
    Experience of writing briefing papers and reports on complex issues.
    Experience of organizing events and/or workshops.
