Job Title: Lecturer: Mathematics Literacy
Minimum requirements:
•A Master’s degree in Mathematics Education.
•An experience in facilitating learning in Mathematics Literacy/Mathematics Education.
•Ability to provide supervision of Honours research projects.
•Experience in the development of curricula.
•Publication in the area will be an advantage.
Recommended requirements:
•Ability to work in a team environment.
•Self-motivated.
Duties:
The following will be expected from the successful candidate:
•Facilitate learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels (both content knowledge and
pedagogical content knowledge; that is, content and method subjects). Initially the focus will
be on literacy in the two disciplines. However, going forward the plan is to develop
programmes for the training of subject teachers in the two disciplines.
•Participate in the development of curriculum in your area.
•Supervision of Honours students’ research projects.
•Co-ordination of degree programmes if the need arises.
•Engage in community outreach programmes.
•Contribute towards the Department’s transformation and strategic goals.
