Responsibilities:
• Programme development and the development of study guides and study material
• Teaching-learning: teaching and assessment in undergraduate and postgraduate classes
• Research: planning, writing of funding applications, own research and management of research projects
• Research training: supervision of honours and master’s degree students
• Marketing of expertise: community involvement, development and presentation of short-learning programmes
• Organisation, handling of management tasks in the subject group, school and faculty
Minimum requirements:
• MSc in Dietetics or Nutrition
• Registration with/membership of the HPCSA as dietician
• Two to three years’ sound practical experience and/or service delivery in the area of dietetics
• One to two years’ sound practical experience in supervising students in work-integrated learning
• The ability to teach in a dietetics and nutrition programme in one of the following areas: therapeutic nutrition, food service management, public health-care and community nutrition
• Advanced knowledge of the subject area of dietetics and nutrition
• The desire to keep on learning and improving as an efficient academic
• The ability to use relevant nutrition-related software programs
• Computer literacy in Windows and MS Office, the use of GroupWise and internet
• Demonstrated high standard of interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to act independently as well as cooperatively in a multidisciplinary environment
• Demonstration of language proficiency in order to function optimally in the various functionally multilingual environments of the NWU
Recommendations:
• PhD in Dietetics or Nutrition
• A track record of research activity, including peer-reviewed publications
TOTAL REMUNERATION PACKAGE: R313 703 – R418 232 per annum – employer contribution in respect of fringe benefits included
