Responsibilities:
• Handle teaching-learning by developing new modules as appropriate, and work with teaching teams in curricula development, utilising knowledge of contemporary, evidence-based teaching and learning practices to develop education resources in the school
• Engage the community and industry by liaising with relevant stakeholders, including the industry, government, university, education and community bodies and the South African Nursing Council
• Handle research and scholarships by conducting research and disseminate research outcomes in an appropriate manner
• Handle management and administration by planning, reviewing and managing resources to facilitate teaching and learning in the school
• Represent the school in relevant internal and external group meetings and committees as appropriate
Minimum requirements:
• A degree or diploma in Nursing Education and Nursing Management
• Registration with the SANC
• A diploma in Clinical Nursing Science, Assessment, Treatment and Care
• At least three years’ clinical experience in a primary health-care environment
• Knowledge of distance teaching-learning and decentralised learning
• Computer literacy, with the ability to use various Microsoft programs
• The ability to function independently, autonomously, systematically and accurately and solve problems
• The ability to function effectively under pressure
• Ability to maintain sound interpersonal relations and function effectively as part of a team
• The ability to function internally and externally on various levels
• Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the various multilingual environments of the NWU
• Willingness to present classes on Saturdays
• The ability to use distance-learning technology, or the willingness to acquire the necessary skills for the mentioned technology
Recommendations:
• A relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree
• Teaching experience in a tertiary-education environment
• A dispensing license
TOTAL REMUNERATION PACKAGE: R313 703 – R418 232 per annum – employer contribution in respect of fringe benefits included
COMMENCEMENT OF DUTIES: As soon as possible
