Responsibilities:
• Handling of office administration and coordination
• Liaison with staff and the public
• Execution of secretarial tasks at various meetings
• Handling of travel and accommodation arrangements
• Handling of course/training arrangements
• Execution of ad hoc tasks
Minimum requirements:
• A three-year secretarial diploma
• Five years’ experience in a professional and office environment with appropriate administrative and office experience
• Expertise with regard to office administration and coordination
• The ability to liaise with staff and the public
• The ability to coordinate meetings and training and keep records
• Expertise with regard to various computer programs of the University
• Computer literacy and proven knowledge of software packages like MS Office, as well as GroupWise, the internet, and NWU systems like Share
• The ability to assist the director by rendering professional secretarial support
• The ability to manage a complex electronic diary and email
• The ability to liaise effectively with people on all levels, internally and externally
• The ability to make arrangements independently (e.g. regarding travelling/courses/training)
• The ability to promote the image of the unit through a client-service orientation
• The ability to function effectively and independently
• Good time-management and self-management skills in order to successfully handle work pressure and a variety of tasks
• Good interpersonal relations
• The ability to handle problems innovatively and proactively
• Professional telephone etiquette and filing skills
• Excellent and accurate organisation and planning abilities
• Language proficiency in order to function optimally in the various functionally multilingual environments of the NWU
TOTAL REMUNERATION PACKAGE: R140 708 – R187 649 per annum – employer contributions in respect of fringe benefits included
