The role:

The General Miner has a legal accountability for construction blasting in terms of the MHSA and will be required to contribute and assist the logistics team with the execution of all tasks relating to the role.  The role for a General Miner is varied in the logistics structure from moving men, material and ore to construction within the logistics domain.

The role will supervise a logistics crew in fulfilling its specific logistic activities, with a timeframe of 6-12 months.



Technical work responsibilities:

    Early examination of the panel
    Handling and preparing explosives
    Setting and decharging blast holes
    Equipment maintenance
    Material and machinery co-ordination
    Correct performance deficiencies

Core work outputs:

    Effective logistics role during a shift.
    Good employee relations.
    Effective administration of necessary systems.
    Supports the overall operation of the logistics team.

Required abilities:

    Standard 8/Grade 10 Numeracy and Literacy
    Logistics experience.
    Mining certificate for non-mining managers or Engineering certificate for non-engineering supervisors
    Passed blasting certificate.
    Skilled in all other tasks of logistics.
    Passed area specific training modules for logistics role at a Crew Captain level in mining.
    English literate.
