Over view
Visual Skills School (VSS) is a private education and training provider in the north of Pretoria that offers quality resident and distance visual arts education and training for the visual media industry. VSS focuses on education and training in disciplines pertaining to photography and design, which falls under the Electronic Media and Film sub-sector served by the MICT SETA. VSS follows a multi-disciplinary approach to problem solving, development of creativity and applied knowledge to cultivate a wider skills application in the visual media industry.

Job Requirements:
·         A National Diploma or Degree is required with proficiency in both analog and digital photography and darkroom (physical darkroom, Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop).
·         Multi-media knowledge preferred.
·         Previous teaching/facilitation experience preferred.
·         Excellent presentation/facilitation, problem-solving and people skills
·         Proficiency in both English and Afrikaans preferred.
·         Screened candidates will be invited to participate in a competency test.
·         Successful candidates will be required to do training “Conduct Outcomes-based Assessment” SAQA ID 115753

Duties and Responsibilities:
·         Provide high quality teaching in the subject areas required, given the resources available and within the agreed and approved current timetable, with due recognition of the relevant syllabus and course specifications, including the necessary preparation of teaching notes, handouts and visual aids where required.
·         Satisfy the administrative requirements of the College and examining/validating bodies.
·         Ensure that all marking, assessments and moderations are complete.
·         Liaise with other staff as appropriate to ensure that work is fully and effectively covered.
·         Actively encourage and promote the process of student learning.
·         Direct technician assistance/team support in the teaching situation where appropriate and as required.
·         Teach up to required levels on identified courses.
·         Ensure records of student achievements are maintained as required by the Sector and relevant external bodies.
·         Keep accurate and up to date registers of classes taught of learner attendances, lateness and marks.
·         Ensure the quality standards and performance measures applying to the work of the section are met and facilitate continuous improvements in all aspects of the post.
·         Undergo any self-development and training as necessary for success in the role.
·         Undertake any other responsibilities commensurate with the grade of the post, which the Principal or their senior management representative may from time to time require.
