All-inclusive remuneration package: R934,866.00 to R1,117,758.00

Purpose of this position: to support the achievement of objectives for the department by providing advice to enable the implementation and maintenance of objective systems to identify and mitigate risks the threaten the attainment of objectives, and to optimize opportunities that enhance institutional performance.


Requirements: A postgraduate degree in Risk Management/ Auditing/ Finance/ Business Administration/ Leadership. Postgraduate Certificate in Enterprise Risk Management will be an added Advantage. Extensive knowledge of risk management principles and the application thereof

At least 5years' experience in risk management,which must have been at senior management level.

Key-outputs: Cascade and align the department's strategic plan with the chief directorate's business plan. Ensure effective and efficient management of resources.
Ensure continuous professional development of staff. ERM strategy communicated to EXCO, Risk Management and Audit Committed to enhance governance of risks. Effective and integrated annual risk assessment processes in place for all divisions. Effective risk mitigating strategies in place for all significant risks facing identified. Develop a risk dashboard that provides a high level overview of the risks have emerged.
Maintain an effective electronic security system at all times.
create,manage and monitor the consolidated risk register for the National Treasury and ensure that it provides a real time view of National Treasury's risk exposure. Quantify,cost and report risk exposure which have materialized to the Director-General.

The report should include an assessment of the adequacy/ inadequacy of steps taken by management to mitigate the risk. Facilitate the development and monitor the management of business continuity plans across National Treasury. Identify risks which have multiple risk owners and ensure that an integrated ,co-ordinate and cost effective approach to managing these risks os adopted.Provide internal Audit with an updated Consolidated Risk Register for the National Treasury on an annual basis .

-Review Internal audit reports with the view of corroborating management's assertions on residual risk ratings. Keep abreast of local and international developments in the Risk Management field and ensure that National Treasury Operates at best practice Risk Management principles.
Effective Fraud prevention plan in place. Effective corruption case management Framework in place. Develop. review and maintain best practice, implementable emergency,disaster and business continuity plans. The risk and security strategic and all their interventions communicated across Treasury to enhance implementation. Risk and security management training provided. Positive risk and security management culture embedded within the National Treasury measures to mitigate against the risk of information breaches. Develop, review and maintain an effective vetting strategy..
