Hospital Human Resources Manager at Life Healthcare in Durban

Job Title:     Hospital Human Resources Manager 
Function:     Human Resources
Facility:     Life Entabeni Hospital, Durban

Introduction:    
A vacancy exists for a Hospital HR Manager, based at Life Entabeni Hospital, reporting to Hospital Manager, Mr Greg Swale. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of the HR strategy in the hospital and to optimize employee commitment, productivity and capability by providing sound people management leadership, planning, policy/legislative interpretation, communicating, developing sound relationships and change capability in line with Life Healthcare objectives.

Critical Outputs:    
Ensuring the effective attraction, resourcing and retention of staff by
• Ensuring that key positions are filled by guiding and supporting the line managers on the recruitment and selection process
• Ensuring a low staff turnover rate by conducting and facilitating exit interviews
• Developing and implementing actions flowing from the employee perception surveys
Effective development and talent management by
• Conducting and compile a training needs analysis plan that adheres to WSP targets
• Increasing the number of qualified nursing staff by the planning of student training interventions and the recruitment of students for the hospital
• Facilitating an efficient talent pool with MANCO by identifying candidates for career development
Effective management of employee relations through sound ER practices and communication structures by
• Coordinating and facilitate training in order to ensure that there are trained line managers on the IR programmes
• Ensuring all IR processes are complied with by ensuring line managers report on and adhere to disciplinary charges
• Keeping employees informed by communicating new policies to MANCO
• Training consultative forum members
• Preparing and maintain department of labour inspection files
Ensure effective Employee Wellness by
• Marketing and ensure the utilization of the company wellness programme
• Ensuring the awareness and education of HIV/AIDS
Ensure sound people management through leadership, change management, teamwork, collaboration and communication by
• Guiding and coaching managers by being aware of the hospital strategic plans
• Ensuring the effective operation of the HR structure by building trusting and professional relationships with hospital line management and staff
• Influencing business to comply with delivery deadlines and output by contributing to HR debates, direction and strategy
Ensuring effective support of Employee Services by
• Ensuring the accuracy, quality and achievement of deadlines by adhering to payroll submission deadlines
Ensure the effective facilitation of diversity and EE/transformation processes by
• Assisting in the facilitation and implementation of EE transformation processes and activities in order to achieve targets
• Analysing employment equity trends and ensure the reports are submitted on time
Ensuring the effective productivity of employees through performance and absence process compliance by
• Conducting performance management training and ensure all staff have fully documented JPM’s
• Conducting absence management and poor performance workshops and develop strategies to address these trends
Ensuring effective HR initiatives/project management by
• Planning, organizing and monitoring the implementation of successful ad hoc projects
• Implementing effective change management plans for all major projects


Requirements:    
• Human Resources Degree or National Diploma / Post Graduate degree would be an advantage
• Three years’ relevant experience in an HR generalist role, preferably in the healthcare or hospitality industry
• Management experience will be an advantage
• Sound knowledge of HR practices and SA labour legislation
• Computer proficiency including basic knowledge of payroll systems
• Valid Driver’s license and own car essential
